After our horrible experience at Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground, I contacted Rustic Wagon via email. It was after hours, but a member of the family who owns the campground called me bright and early the very next morning. They had a spot for us, so we reserved a place for two nights. They said checkout time was at 11:00am, and we could come any time after that. However, we got out of the other park early and decided to stop in at Rustic Wagon to see if we could check in early. We were in luck. The spot was open, and they let us move right in. The campground is just on the edge of town, so it was peaceful and quiet. However, be sure to take bug spray because the mosquitos were quite thick, no matter what time of day. The showers and laundry room were clean, the staff was friendly, and we were extremely happy to be in a park where you are treated like a customer should be treated. We definitely recommend this RV park. The family members we met were all very nice and accommodating. The park was shady and quiet.
When my husband called the park to ask about a reservation, the park employee said the RV park was only a few minutes from the Yellowstone Park entrance. It is actually 15 miles from the park. If you don't mind driving an extra 30 miles a day just to and from the park each day, then this would be okay, but it wasn't okay with us. There are no trees, and no shade. The restrooms and showers are clean, and they have WIFI, but it is spotty and poor reception where we were parked. We reserved a spot for five days and paid for half of it up front. We got there after the office closed, so we were unable to talk with staff until the next morning. The RV park is right next to a state highway. Our camp spot was only 50 feet from the highway, which is traveled by large trucks at all hours of the night. When we asked for a refund the manager further stated that if we didn't like it, we could sue the park and the owner. I replied that I would do more than that--I would tell about my bad experience on the internet and the various social media websites, as well. That was the worst experience I have ever had with a place of business. I have never been screamed at in my life by anyone who claims to be a professional. You don't build a business by treating your paying customers like dirt under your feet. I will never go back there, and I warn you not to pay for more than one or two nights if that's the only place you can find a camp spot, because they will not refund you any money if you pay for a week and leave after only 1 or 2 days. If you are driving a long distance and want to stay in the Yellowstone National Park, reserve a spot outside of the park on the first night of your arrival. After that, go into Yellowstone the next morning and find a camp spot. There are many spots to be had, but they fill up quickly, so get there early. You will save yourself a lot of drive time and mileage by camping inside the park. I personally think the manager needs to attend some anger management classes.
